Nostr is a vital space despite its many shortcomings. Keep using it! At crypto statto, the goal is to be transparent, challenge but respect idiosyncrasies. Have long since given up on Mastadon. Totally bizarre platform, yet - our social media posting software has capability for Mastadon posting. Our initial account got banned from their mastadon.social if we recall, whilst simply testing the software. We got banned from X for simply sharing a post on how to post on Nostr. X's AI continues to automatically reject appeals. No humans involved. The Chatgpt recommendation was to use Mastadon.bot. Why? It is friendlier to bots. It has been three weeks now and still no approval. Is it because we are a crypto-friendly company? Perhaps they don't like crypto? How hard can it be to visit a website and read more about it? Perhaps the moderators are on a long holiday? Can't be arsed? Who knows? Mastadon feels like Wikipedia on steroids. Hands down, barring X, Mastadon is the biggest waste of space of a social media platform going? We didn't consider Facebook or Instagram given it is attached to a human account. Ie, you dox yourself just to market a company. How does that work legally? Well, then we have BlueSky. Which requires a third party to store your digital ID, a passport etc to allow you to post through automation. There are legitimate reasons why one doesn't want to attach personal data to just post information through an automated account. Equally, moderator based platforms and communities always suffer similar craziness.

Yes... Personally. I would probably do 15% margin max. A lot of people are going to lose a lot of bitcoin.

I wonder if a lot of it is hierarchy based. My view is that X and other platforms' users gravitate towards large accounts. I mean, Lynn Alden is great but why are so many zapping her? One of the smartest financial people around and all these small accounts zapping Lynn. Nostr is supposed to be a leveller, and yet people come on here and behave just as moronically as those elsewhere. Next, this Bitcoin maxi sentiment. Nothing wrong with picking a tribe and running with it but to many newcomers it is overwhelming. The technical hurdles to operating around the nostr ecosphere. It is a challenge even for technical people like me. I am sure there are guides but nostr needs to publicise places, knowledgebases. Yes. There are some great efforts but it feels too esoteric. My presence on here is as a force of good but does anyone actually care about the work me and my collaborators are doing? This is the reality of it.

Indeed. My account on here is largely aimed at pushing my platform but naturally, who can avoid getting into these debates? Keep meaning to create a personal account 🤣. Have been impressed by Nostr and a lot of the much deeper perspectives around security and freedom. I think the quote is "You don't change Bitcoin, Bitcoin changes you." A classic one we hear is "I've got nothing to hide!" "Okay, so why are you wearing underwear and trousers when you could wear see through clothes?"

Hi there. All good points again. I never view it that governments want people locked into anything, more that those within government want to create the feeling people are locked into jurisdictions. Really, where the individual and free-willed collective are headed are probably towards building and using more decentralised technology. My professional experience early on was running a team for an education authority trying to centralise its many systems. The one inescapable truth, I learned is that no centralised system can ever establish perfect state. Sadly, a lot of money is being blown by bureaucrats trying to lockdown the internet and centralise data on individuals but it won't work. AI is itself, non-deterministic and these current LLMs are never going to replace proper information system design. A really good way to think of it is centralised social media platforms. Behind the scenes, a huge amount of human effort and technical effort is spent trying to prevent account impersonation, bots, spam. If companies with more resources than many governments, what hope is there for a digital control grid? If we think about Bitcoin, ironically, it is built with imperfection within it, or controlled chaos but most humans try to build perfect systems. Where will it end? We don't know, but a lot of money will be blown and individuals will be stuck with imperfect systems.

Agreed. The real way I view bitcoin is like travellers in the traditional sense. They can move where they want, even set themselves up by bringing their assets with them. The idea of government protecting people is a joke really.
