We've posted a response to this: https://grapheneos.social/@GrapheneOS/116200110686604617

Expect those to be more expensive to start rather than cheaper. Longer and more frequent updates along with better hardware security features will need to trickle down to the more budget devices before we can support those too. We do fully intend to support non-flagship devices but the flagships are going to be the first meeting our requirements. Qualcomm segments security features and non-Pixel OEMs give flagships better updates.

The Motorola Signature (2026) and Motorola Razr Fold (2026) for recent devices which are close to meeting our requirements but not quite there. There's a lot of work to do for the next generation devices supporting GrapheneOS. We would have liked to support the 2026 devices but there wasn't enough time and Qualcomm's MTE support wasn't ready yet.
We're happy to announce a long-term partnership with Motorola. We're collaborating on future devices meeting our privacy and security standards with official GrapheneOS support. https://motorolanews.com/motorola-three-new-b2b-solutions-at-mwc-2026/

You should phase out carrier-based calls and texts as much as you can. Use end-to-end encrypted messaging apps instead. Dumb phones also have atrocious security in practice despite having so few features. They're lacking basic security updates and protections. They also fully depend on cellular.

Many people care about privacy and security who aren't misled into believing operating systems and hardware far worse at both than an iPhone are the answer. Instead of supporting devices not meeting bare minimum privacy and security standards, we're working on proper devices meeting our full requirements with an OEM partner. They're one of the largest smartphone companies and are announcing our partnership next month.

We'll also still be using Matrix and Discord even if we start trying something new. We could eventually replace both in the very long term but we have a lot of requirements and it would be a slow transition to anything else. We probably wouldn't get rid of Discord but rather would be primarily replacing Matrix with another open source option but without federation.
We need more 10Gbps or higher dedicated servers for hosting our OS and app updates. We have North America covered well enough via sponsored servers from ReliableSite in both Miami and Los Angeles and a sponsored server from Xenyth in Toronto but no longer have any left in Europe.

We already have a feature to check the Play Store source stamp and then bypass install source checks inserted by the Play Store for apps explicitly enabling it. We plan to extend this it to bypassng checks done by apps themselves which has become rarer due to the standard Play Store feature but as you can see is still occasionally being done.

If you care at all about privacy and security, avoid /e/ and avoid Fairphones. Use an iPhone if you want a device with solid privacy and security without thinking about it. Don't fall for the false marketing of these phony privacy and security products. No device Murena sells is at all safe to use.
