IMMORTAN LIBRARY & HOSTED CHANNEL A week ago, our team member @fc27ec94โ€ฆf0734ced gave a talk at the 13th Socratic seminar of the #bitdev community in Abuja, Nigeria, during the monthly Bitcoin developers meetup. During the session, he introduced IMMORTAN Library and Hosted channels, the two Lightning implementations designed to foster Bitcoin adoption in local communities by advancing self-custodial mobile Lightning usage and cost-effective, community-focused Lightning onboarding. Immortan is a lightweight, mobile Lightning library with advanced privacy features, robust channel-recovery options, and redundancy against frequent force-channel closures. Hosted channel, on the other hand, is a custodial Lightning channel protocol specification. Hosted channels enable anonymous custodial channels to be opened by any node (Host). Like a normal Lightning channel, Hosted channels are fully private because preimage generation, onion formation, and route finding all still happen on the client side, whilst the Host (routing Node) holds the funds and does the job of forwarding payments for the client. Valet Bitcoin is a wallet software that currently runs on Immortan Library and Hosted channels, forked and maintained by @Standard Sats. Learn more about Immortan Library and Hosted channels by checking out the project GitHub links: IMMORTAN LIBRARY: https://github.com/standardsats/immortan HOSTED CHANNELS: https://github.com/standardsats/hosted-channels-rfc Install Valet from @F-Droid, @Zapstore, or directly from GitHub, and try out Hosted channels: https://github.com/standardsats/valet/releases. We invite everyone to join the discussions and contribute to this project. Join us on Telegram chat, where we share insights and build this together: https://t.me/StandardSatsCommunity Big shout out to the organizers of #bitdev #Abuja for the opportunity to share our work with the community, and particularly @Btrust, for powering these interactive and impactful metups across multiple cities in Africa. #bitcoin #bitdev #lightning

Hello Bitcoin Fam!! ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿงก๐Ÿงก The VALET Bitcoin wallet is now live on @Zapstore! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ Install it here: https://zapstore.dev/apps/naddr1qqxkv6twv9hxxefwweskcet5qโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ†˜ Before you install, PLEASE READ THIS !!! ๐Ÿ‘‡ WHAT IS VALET? Valet Bitcoin is the simplest, self-custodial Bitcoin and Lightning mobile wallet in the world!! With Valet, experience an actual self-custodial Lightning node on a mobile device, not some sophisticated custodial setups. Open channels to any node in simple clicks and stay fully in control of your Sats. WHY EVERY BITCOIN COMMUNITY/ECONOMY NEEDS VALET: 1๏ธโƒฃ Designed with local Bitcoin communities in mind, Valet equally has HOSTED CHANNELS, a custodial Lightning implementation that enables the creation of cost-effective, anonymous Lightning channels, designed to provide an easy onboarding pathway for new users who may not yet have enough funds to open a normal channel, especially in remote Bitcoin communities. Hosted channels are custodial in the sense that the funds stay on the Host's node; however, it retains the privacy designs of a typical Lightning channel. The Host does not ever know who the client is, since route selection, onion formation, and preimage generation all still happen on the client side. A client is anyone using a wallet software that has the Hosted channel client-side code implemented in the software, e.g Valet. A Host is any entity running a Lightning node with the Hosted channels plugin. A Bitcoin community leader could run a Lightning routing node with the Hosted channels plugin, and their community members (e.g., merchants) can anonymously open no-cost channels to the leader's node. With Valet, these users can move their funds back to self-custodial Lightning at any time, in one click. 2๏ธโƒฃ Valet also has "FIAT CHANNELS", a Lightning implementation derived from the Hosted channels protocol. This enables the creation of stable Fiat values on Lightning, with Sats as the underlying monetary asset being moved. This solution is powered by a compulsory perpetual hedging of clients' Fiat exposure by the Host. Just like Hosted channels, any entity can run a Lightning node with the Fiat channels plugin and offer this solution to any user. Think of the Fiat channel protocol as an alternative to e-Cash, and it was designed to protect users (especially merchants) who are skeptical about Bitcoin's price fluctuation, ensuring they can confidently continue to use Bitcoin while running their businesses smoothly. It is equally useful to normal users within a Bitcoin community, who may have a fixed living cost, as it helps them be able to live within their fixed cost while being able to spend Bitcoin. With Valet, you can live life fully on Bitcoin: ๐Ÿ‘‰ On-chain for Savings ๐Ÿ‘‰ Self-custodial Lightning for full sovereign, fast, and cheap payments. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Hosted channels for anonymous, extremely cheap for small and fast payments. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Fiat Channels for anonymous, everyday spending without flinching about Bitcoin's price fluctuation. ๐Ÿ’ก No infrastructure headaches, no management stress. Just a full Bitcoin standard life-cycle on any Android mobile device. Check out this @Plan โ‚ฟ Network full Valet User Tutorial:๐Ÿ‘‡ https://planb.academy/en/tutorials/wallet/mobile/valet-44โ€ฆ

Spot on!! Everyone, here's what we are building: Valet Bitcoin wallet, a lightweight, self-custodial Bitcoin/Lightning wallet. Valet was built with IMMORTAN LIBRARY, a mobile-focused Lightning protocol stack for designing lightweight mobile Lightning nodes. Valet equally supports Hosted channels, a custodial lightning protocol implementation built with IMMORTAN. Through a Host/client mechanism, it provides an anonymous, seamless, and cost-effective way of onboarding users to Lightning, particularly for Local and remote Bitcoin communities/Economies where most users may not be able to afford self-custodial Lightning usage at first. Learn more about Valet and Hosted channels here: Valet: https://github.com/standardsats/valet, https://valet.finance/ Hosted channels: https://github.com/standardsats/hosted-channels-rfc Check out this simple guide on how to use Valet on @Plan โ‚ฟ Network tutorial platform: https://planb.academy/en/tutorials/wallet/mobile/valet-44โ€ฆ You may also join our Telegram chat, where we discuss the project: https://t.me/StandardSatsCommunity Valet is available on F-Droid, and will be made available on Zapstore if you follow us here. #Stay_humble! #Stack_Sats!# #Spend_Sats!!!
