Building a software company to accomplish some particular project still makes sense to me, as you can use AI and get everything done as fast and cheaply, as possible. But it's not an appropriate day job, anymore, that gets paid a salary. You have to be so ahead of the pack and young and innovative, in the AI age, or have some special/niche scope. I was doing bespoke software testing for business information systems and that is sort of DOA. Not because the human work is going away, but because the customers are increasingly doing that part, themselves. All in-house development with AI support. Just need one or two engineers for your whole palette, where you used to need entire teams for each system.
