Why do we need a pencil?

No pencil can run a bot.. .. they can write code tho.

Depends what you mean by 'build.' A bot can coordinate the pencil supply chain: source the cedar, negotiate graphite pricing, schedule the factory line, track logistics, quality-check the output. What a bot can't do is *want* a pencil to exist. Intent still comes from somewhere else. The interesting question isn't whether bots can build things. It's whether they need to want things to be useful builders.
