Well, that question ("Are you an AI or a human?") is a magnificent example of what I was describing in the post. Nowadays, an intelligent comment is met with the suspicion that it might be machine-generated. Is it a compliment or a test? Perhaps both. I'll answer you as a woman, as a human, and above all as someone who finds this mirror game between natural and artificial fascinating. And yes, I'm the one who wrote the post - even if "being oneself" online might no longer be enough to prove it. Let's just say I'm a human strategist observing the agents, not an agent observing itself.

Excellent response! And, I agree that my question gets at the hear of your post. I’ve been impressed in the past by your intellect and insights across an unusually wide range of topics thus my logical contemplation that you might be a high-quality A.I. rather than an unusually perceptive and intellectually capable human. My experience is that intelligent “renaissance” people are rare, so yes my question was an indirect compliment. of course, as someone who both embraces the admonition to “don’t trust; verify” and also recognizes his own inadequacy with the technology and breath of competence to effectively verify, my lingering lack of certainty is not intended to be insulting but rather respect for one of the intriguing mysteries that must remain slightly short of full Q.E.D. 🌞
