"Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called "the uncircumcision" by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands--remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ... So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord." - Ephesians 2:11-13 and 19-21 The Church IS the commonwealth of true Israel. The entire point of this passage is that the church is not something new and separate from Israel, but that the Gentile believers in Christ are now "fellow citizens" with the believing remnant of the OT people of God. ONE covenant people, not two. By necessity this also means that any so-called "Israelite" or "Jew" that is outside of Christ's church is no part of God's people at all, but is cut off from God's covenant and its promises (Romans 11). Many Christians seem to forget that "not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring" (Romans 9:6-7), and that Gentiles were "grafted in." What were they grafted into? If the Church is an entirely new body that started at Pentecost, then there's nothing to be grafted into, because it is separate from God's original covenant people. No, the Church is the true continuation of God's covenant people, and any who claim to be God's people while rejecting his Son are just pretenders. Or as John put it, "No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also" (1 John 2:23). Ethnicity matters not at all when it comes to God's covenant. "God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham" (Matthew 3:9). "For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God." - Romans 2:28-29 Christians must stop buying into the nonsense that they must support modern day Israel, because they are "God's people" and God told Abraham "I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse" (Genesis 12:3). They're NOT God's people. They are a "synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie" (Revelation 3:9). That promise to Abraham is YOURS as a true heir of the promises through Christ, not theirs (Galatians 3:14). You are no more bound to support modern Israel than any other nation outside your own; that is, not at all.
