Bitcoin will never become the default currency as long as it doesn't have privacy by default. The lawfare and tax attack vectors are too strong and will always persist. Notice how we went from nearly 0 taxes in the gold/silver standard with paper currency then now have astronomical taxes and surveillance with ACH transfers and Visa/Mastercard. Notice how even the normie values getting tipped in cash more knowing that they can get away with not paying income tax on it with 100% confidence. Nearly every tradesmen you hire will give you a cash discount for this reason. We need L1 privacy by default or Bitcoin is DOA as medium-of-exchange.

the taxes aren't because of the currency, they're because people gave their autonomy to the state. doesn't matter what currency or privacy, we've let our governments invent new taxes and hot sucked into the "tax the rich" nonsense which actually means "destroy the middle class". we are way off topic now though. the original comment was about needing new laws to able to use bitcoin. we don't, you can start using it today. as for the cash angle, I'm sure some use the cash as a tax avoidance method, but having run small businesses myself that was never why I did it. simply that cash was instant and useable, and I could keep a stash at home. and avoided the bank/card fees. there are many, many other ways to avoid tax
