I deepky miss the old instant messenger UX, where messages would pop up on screen. I guess pidgin was my favorite. It made for a different experience than having a place to check for messages. I'd love to see a modern messaging tool with wide adoption use it. XMPP is still available but there's no getting those years back when EVERYONE used it.
